August 2012

Trifecta's 33 word weekend prompt put me in mind of my subject right away.  Feeling brave after some feedback from one of the last prompts I responded to on another site, I decided to write another poem.  Let me know what you think!

Pain
Then numbness
A tug or two
Then a cry
Such a beautiful cry
Sending tears down my face
Tiny and wet
Wrinkled and a bit blue
Delicate fingers
Steel blue eyes
Perfection

  2. Like how you take us from 'pain' to 'perfection' in this short space.

    1. Thankfully the pain didn't last long before the meds came into the picture.

  9. as a mom, there is really nothing that compares to that sound is there?
The tug, the pulling..it never really ends once they are here, they tug on your hands, your heart even your brain some times, but that first moment of relief as you hear their cry is magic.

    Loved this.

    1. Thanks! He has everyone in my family wrapped around his sticky little fingers. That first cry is so precious there just aren't really words to describe it.
